Custom Strength is about helping you get strong. And mobile. And powerful. And fast. And fit. And if you're an athlete, agile too. In short, we will help you reach your fitness and health goals.And we'll do it so that it fits your schedule, and is based on your movement.
Step One: Sign up. Easy!
Step Two: Fill in the questionnaire (this link takes you to the pdf version. You can also download a Word version so you can fill it in electronically), movement assessment form, and waiver. The waiver is an insurance necessity. The questionnaire is how you tell us about yourself:
- Injury history
- Activities
- Goals
- Schedule / time availability
- Exercise equipment access
The Movement assessment form helps us to understand what movemetn compensations and imbalances you have developed. In our experience everyone has some, so don't be alarmed! The important thing is that we find out what they are, and we address them.
You can download the Word version of the questionnaire anytime. The Movement assessment and waiver will be emailed to you after you sign up.
Step Three: This one's on us. We create a strength and conditioning program based on what you've told us above. If we're uncertain about something, we will ask. We will then send it to you, including detailed descriptions, cueing, exercise images and in most cases, links to videos. We'll also send a "where do you feel it" form.
Step Four: We send you the program, but in stages. First week you'll only do the movement preparation section. We'll add something new each week. Getting it all at once can be overwhelming. But stagger it, and you'll have new exciting stuff to do each week.
Step Five: Start getting strong! After a week, please fill in the "where do you feel it" form. This is to help us ensure that you are feeling the exercises where we want you to. Everybody is different, and sometimes the compensations you have developed can impact how well an exercise will work for you. Based on this form, we may make some changes to what we have given you. Whatever it takes to get you moving well, playing well and living well.
Step Six: We stay in touch! This one's for both of us. We'll be sure to keep you motivated (not annoyingly though!), and we hope that you'll ask questions, and share preferences with us. Remember - this program is about you!
Step Seven: Each month we'll progress the program. Some people are eager to start lifting heavy and doing awesome exercises. At Custom Strength, we will not progress you faster than we think is safe and healthy for you. This is why we go through the assessment process. If you're looking for a program that's going to make you want to throw up every workout and is going to leave you sore for days, this is not the program for you.
